Philanthropy: Thistle Farms
The members of Phi Sigma at Lipscomb University hold philanthropy very close to their hearts. Phi Sigma is pleased to continue our partnerships with the locally based Thistle Farms, and we are proud to be making a difference in the lives of many. To get involved, please join us at our second annual Sunflower Festival this fall (date TBA).
Thistle Farms
Thistle Farms is a local for-profit organization located right here in Nashville, TN. Thistle Farms' mission is to heal, power, and employ women survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction. They do this by providing safe and supportive housing, the opportunity for economic independence, and a strong community of advocates and partners. They believe that in the end, love is the most powerful force for change in the world.
Sunflower Festival
Phi Sigma supports Thistle Farms by our new Philanthropy Event, The Sunflower Festival. The Sunflower Festival was started this past year in order to encourage other students on campus to participate in aiding Thistle Farms. Sunflower Festival consists of selling tee shirts, square dancing, retail booths, and other activities to raise money. Last year at the first annual Sunflower Fest, we were able to raise over $2,000 for Thistle Farms. Phi Sigma also volunteers at Thistle Farms on a semi-regular basis, and one of our alumni Katie Scholl (Alpha Pi) is a global initiative branch manager at Thistle Farm's headquarters.
